Somewhere or Nowhere

Have you ever been caught in a cold truck stop
Way down, down in Tennessee
Have you ever been held in a Seattle cell
Hoping someone will set you free
Have you ever been sitting on the side of a road
Waiting for anyone to slow
Well let me tell you my friend these hard times never end
When you’re somewhere or nowhere all alone
There have been ladies in my life but I never took a wife
No, no, not even for a year or two
You might say I was mean but then you might say I was keen
To see through all the wrong they tried to do
At times you know it’s sad just to think of what I had
And how I left ‘em all behind
But then my money ran too low, I guess that goes to show
Man, those women had me riding blind
You know that I’ve been stoned, I’ve been stripped of all I own
I’ve been laid and made some money doin’ wrong
But all those things I found helped me get around
And paved the way for provin’ this boy strong
